Please note that if a requested seed is unavailable, it will be substituted with the closest available variety.

Is there a cost to check out seeds?
No, seeds are free of charge.
How many seeds are in a package?
- Large seeds: 3 per packet
- Medium seeds: 4–6 per packet
- Small seeds: a pinch
Quantity varies based on seed size.
How many seeds can I check out at a time?
With a Hernando County Library card, you may check out up to 5 seed packets per household each month. Duplicate or repeat orders within the same calendar month will not be fulfilled. Patrons can choose from a wide variety of seeds for edible plants and herbs to grow at home.
Will the library accept seed donations?
Yes, we accept seed donations as long as they are in pre-sealed manufacturer packaging.
